After settling into dorms and starting my classes it was time to explore with my new girl gang at the weekend! We hit Huntington Beach to do some shopping at Pacific City. Pacific City is an outdoor mall with the cutest beachy shops like Free People and Seafolly Australia. It has a really chilled out vibe like the majority of California – it’s the SoCal life! It’s located directly across from the beach so when you’re finished shopping or eating you can catch some rays!

There is good food everywhereeee…I have to admit, I am a foodie! I love trying new flavours and exploring different cultures through their food. Here in California, Mexican food is huge – I can’t even explain how much guacamole and salsa I’ve consumed since being here. There are also endless options of sweet treats which are impossible to say no too. Popbar in Huntington is a cool popsicle bar where you pick from countless flavours, dip in melted chocolate and add toppings. Strawberry popsicle dipped in white/milk chocolate with pistachio and coconut shavings on top please!

Another trend for A/W 16 is the victorian style with lots of busy prints, embroidery and deep colours like maroon, dark purples and navy. Floral prints obviously come into this category but in a more traditional way. I’m becoming a lot more experimental with prints and colours these days and I like it! Here are a few of my high street picks :

Zara Cold Shoulder Blouse – Love this busy print with layers of fabric and ruffles

Zara Studded Skirt – Rockstar style is coming back everyone!

Free People Sheer Lace Dress – Lots of sheer fabrics and lace this fall

Topshop Velvet Western Booties – Cowgirl chic

I’m a little upset I wont be diving into my winter wardrobe until December (when I am back home) but for now it will be a mixture of SS16 & AW16 in the Californian heat.

Huntington Beach has fire pits open to the public every night to watch the sunset and make memories with friends and family (what an amazing lifestyle right?!) and thats exactly what we did! We watched the sunset whilst eating chicken wings, (pre ordered & picked up…this was definitely a cheat day) chatted & laughed uncontrollably all night and made real smores! When I say real smores, I mean like real American smores – graham crackers, marshmallows (toasted on the beach) and Hershey’s chocolate – delicious. Another thing ticked off the bucket list!

My Labour Day weekend adventures are coming soon and a very exciting event in LA – stay tuned!
