AUTUMN AÇAÍ

October 9, 2018

Açaí bowls are my absolute favourite breakfast meal when eating out. I became obsessed with them when living in LA because they were on every cafe menu or my friends and I would go to Banzai Bowl on Huntington Beach (home of the açaí bowl) specifically for our açaí fix. Soon after moving back home to Glasgow, I decided to start making my own! After purchasing the non-fresh ingredients like the toppings and açaí powder – it was easy to make them whenever. Tip: To whip up these bowls quickly it’s a good idea to keep frozen banana chunks and frozen berries in the freezer at all times. As well as a supply of the fresh ingredients like avocado or fresh berries in the fridge.

Açaí powder is high in vitamin A which promotes a healthy immune system, reduces risk of cancer and increases energy. Açaí berries are also very high in fat (healthy fats are essential for breakfast) and low in sugar. Ideally, you should have the açaí powder for the health benefits, if not it’s still a delicous smoothie bowl which will keep you full and energised.
